PFC Inks Rs. 25,000 Crore MoU with Gujarat Government to Power State’s Energy Ambitions

Power Finance Corporation Ltd. (PFC), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) and a prominent Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) in the power sector, sealed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat (GoG) in Gandhinagar on January 3, 2024. The primary objective of this collaborative agreement is to provide extensive financial support for the state’s generation, transmission, and distribution projects.

The MoU was formalized by Smt. Parminder Chopra, CMD PFC, and Shri Jai Prakash Shivhare, MD of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), in the presence of key dignitaries, including Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Minister of Health & Family Welfare Shri Rushikesh Patel, Chief Secretary Shri Raj Kumar, and Additional Chief Secretary Shri S. J. Haider, among others.

This strategic collaboration signifies a substantial advancement in supporting projects undertaken by key entities such as GUVNL, Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL), Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd (GETCO), Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (DGVCL), Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (MGVCL), Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL), and Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (UGVCL). The alliance aims to facilitate long-term debt and critical funding required for the successful execution of diverse projects.

The MoU outlines a considerable financial commitment of Rs. 25,000 Crore to fuel various projects across Gujarat. This significant investment underscores PFC’s unwavering dedication to strengthening the power infrastructure in the region and supporting the state’s ambitious initiatives in the power sector. Additionally, the collaboration is expected to contribute to the creation of around 10,000 jobs in the state.
