The Cyprus Electricity Authority (EAC) has issued a tender for the extended leasing of land to facilitate the development of projects related to Renewable Energy Sources (RES). In accordance with an official statement from the authority, individuals or entities interested in offering land are encouraged to submit proposals for Long-Term Land Leases, with a minimum required area of 30,000 square meters.

Prospective participants have the opportunity to submit their proposals until the deadline of June 1, 2024, with continuous evaluations in progress. The tender is open to both natural and legal entities, as well as municipalities or communities. In situations involving multiple landowners, proposals must be presented through an assigned representative, as specified in the tender documentation.

The provided parcels must meet the stipulated minimum area of 30,000 square meters, and the EAC retains the right to consider plots with a slight variation in total area. Submission of multiple adjacent parcels is acceptable, given they meet the conditions outlined in the tender.

EAC emphasizes that the offered parcels must be suitable for Photovoltaic Power Generation Projects, necessitating features such as flat terrain, minimal shading, proximity to EAC’s medium voltage grid, and ease of accessibility. Additionally, the parcels should be situated near a registered road network or possess legal access.

Additional prerequisites include the absence of encumbrances or commitments at the time of the Land Lease Agreement’s signing, and the designated land parcel should not fall within protected areas or exclusion zones. The planning authority will assess the feasibility of developing RES projects during the planning permission application.

The land lease duration encompasses the period until project licensing (Use Period A) and an additional 27 years for the land parcel’s utilization (Use Period B). The annual lease payments will be made accordingly during both periods.
