Scale Microgrids has inked entered a definitive agreement with Gutami, Inc. to purchase 500 megawatts of distributed solar and storage projects spanning various states, including California and New York. Building upon their successful 100 megawatt collaboration in New York, Scale and Gutami have extended their partnership through an expansion agreement. According to this agreement, Gutami will develop 500 megawatts of energy transition infrastructure assets, which Scale will subsequently acquire, finance, and take ownership of.
This strategic deal with Gutami contributes to the expansion of Scale’s diverse portfolio of community solar projects throughout the United States. The combined capacity of these projects is anticipated to provide power to over 80,000 homes and small businesses while concurrently reducing annual CO2 emissions by approximately 800,000 tons.
โAs we kick off 2024, weโre thrilled to announce continued progress on our companyโs rapid growth. This expansion of a successful relationship is central to our mission of powering the world with clean, distributed energy,โ said Scaleโs Chief Executive Officer, Ryan Goodman. โCommunity solar continues to be a priority for Scale for both its inclusivity and ability to provide more options to our microgrid customers. Community solar is a great option for those who are unable to install rooftop solar because they are renters, canโt afford solar, or because their property is not suited for it.โ
โWe are excited to close this second deal with Scale. After our first success in New York, we were able to expand to other states,โ added Gerben Pek, Gutamiโs Chief Executive Officer. โThe fast decision-making processes by local governments combined with clear legal structures and a well-functioning legal system, enables us to accelerate our growth in community solar in the US.โ
