TotalEnergies ENEOS and SteelAsia Manufacturing Corp., the Philippines’ largest steel company, ink a deal for a 1.9 MWp solar rooftop PV system in Meycauayan. This sustainable initiative aligns with SteelAsia’s commitment to the Paris Agreement, aiming to limit global warming to 1.5ยฐC.

The project, once operational, is projected to yield 2,700 MWh of renewable electricity annually, slashing SteelAsia’s carbon footprint by 2,300 tonnes of CO2, akin to planting 34,500 trees. TotalEnergies ENEOS will fund, install, and operate the system, while SteelAsia will purchase the generated electricity.

In this regard, Andre Y. Sy, President of SteelAsia said, โ€œThis is the companyโ€™s latest action to de-carbonize and protect the environment, while it expands its operations. The company has six plants all over the country with additional plants planned in the coming years.โ€

Elodie Renaud, Director of TotalEnergies ENEOS Renewables Distributed Generation Asia added, โ€œWe are pleased to be the chosen energy partner by SteelAsia, to support their decarbonization efforts. As a leading solar service provider for commercial and industrial businesses, TotalEnergies ENEOS is committed to helping customers to drive down both their energy costs and carbon footprint. We are dedicated to being a long-term energy partner for SteelAsia and look forward to more collaboration in the future.โ€
