Spanning across 20 square kilometers, the project will be executed in three phases, with the scope encompassing the construction of a Photovoltaic plant along with associated evacuation and interconnection arrangements, including two Gas Insulated Substations, high voltage underground cabling, and medium voltage distribution networks.

Masdar, the UAE’s prominent clean energy entity, has inked a Power Purchase Agreement with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to spearhead the project’s development. DEWA will retain a 60% stake in the venture and serve as the sole off-taker of the power generated.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, positioned as the largest single-site solar park globally under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, is poised to have a production capacity of 5,000 MW by 2030. Upon completion, it is estimated to curtail over 6.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually, aligning with Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and DEWA’s strategic initiative for Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Mr. T. Madhava Das, Whole-Time Director & Sr. Executive Vice President (Utilities) at Larsen & Toubro, expressed gratitude towards Masdar and DEWA, emphasizing their steadfast support for the project. He affirmed L&T’s commitment to leveraging innovative renewable energy solutions and project management expertise to accelerate the energy transition in the region, synonymous with economic development and sustainable practices.
