Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a major player in India’s power sector and a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has signed a power delivery agreement with Tata Communications Limited (Tata Communications), a leading player in communications technology, for an 18.75 MW AC group captive solar power plant.
The project, facilitated through a special purpose vehicle (SPV) called Nivade Windfarm Limited, has an estimated order value of ₹105 crore. Situated in Aachegaon, Maharashtra, the plant is expected to generate around 40 million units of power while offsetting over 30,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
By integrating renewable energy sources into its energy mix, Tata Communications underscores its commitment to environmental responsibility and adoption of eco-friendly energy alternatives. This decision to embrace sustainability not only showcases the feasibility and benefits of sustainable energy practices but also reflects broader efforts within the sector to mitigate environmental impact and promote a more sustainable and responsible business environment.
Deepesh Nanda, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to collaborate with Tata Communications to support their transition to renewable energy and facilitate their progress in the digital ecosystem, positioning them as a market leader in the communications technology space. Our tailored green energy solutions such as Group Captive Solar not only reduce operating costs but also enhance energy efficiency, paving the way for a sustainable and future-ready sector.”
Similarly, Manoj Tripathy, Vice President of Corporate Services at Tata Communications Limited, emphasized the company’s dedication to sustainability as a leading global player in communications technology. He praised the collaboration with Tata Power Renewable Energy as a significant step towards a greener future, underscoring their commitment to fostering a cleaner, more sustainable path for the future of communications technology.
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited strategically focuses on group captive projects to contribute actively to India’s ambitious target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070, while also addressing the unique renewable energy needs of clients across various sectors.
