Jakson Green Signs Landmark PPA with RUVNL for 100 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan

Jakson Green, a prominent player in the new energy transition sector, has announced the signing of its inaugural Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) for a 100 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Rajasthan, spanning a 25-year term. This pivotal project underscores Jakson Green’s emergence as a significant Independent Power Producer (IPP) in India’s burgeoning renewable energy domain, aligning with the Government of India’s ambitious target of achieving 450 GW Solar PV installations by 2030.

RUVNL, in April 2023, issued invitations for proposals to establish STU-connected Solar PV projects across Rajasthan. Following a rigorous competitive bidding process, Jakson Green secured the 100 MW project with a tariff of ₹2.61/unit. The project is slated for commissioning within 18 months from the PPA signing date, poised to contribute not only to India’s clean energy objectives but also to address the escalating power requirements of the state.

Mr. Kannan Krishnan, Joint Managing Director of Jakson Green Private Limited, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with RUVNL, emphasizing its significance in driving India’s energy transition towards sustainability. He highlighted Jakson Green’s commitment to making a substantial impact on India’s renewable energy landscape and reiterated the company’s role as a vital IPP. Moreover, Krishnan emphasized the potential of the collaboration to create employment opportunities in the region, fostering socio-economic development alongside environmental benefits.

The 100 MW solar PV plant, developed by Jakson Green, is projected to supply clean electricity to more than 80,000 households annually, effectively mitigating 187,578 MT/year of carbon emissions. This initiative represents a significant stride in Jakson Green’s IPP journey, underscoring its dedication to facilitating a cleaner and more sustainable future powered by renewable energy.
