GE T&D India Limited, a subsidiary of GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions business, has secured significant orders valued at approximately INR 370 crores from the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL). These orders are for the supply of 765 kV Shunt Reactors, integral to PGCIL’s various transmission system projects across India, including in the states of Rajasthan and Karnataka. The initiative aims to enhance the national electricity grid’s capacity to integrate renewable energy sources and improve overall electricity transmission within the country.
Sandeep Zanzaria, the Managing Director & CEO of GE T&D India, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the company’s commitment to supporting PGCIL in upgrading India’s grid infrastructure. He emphasized the significance of utilizing locally manufactured equipment, aligning with the government’s Make in India initiative. Zanzaria proudly noted that GE T&D India has already delivered over 600 transformers and reactors of 765 kV class from its Vadodara facility in Gujarat, reinforcing its leadership in the manufacturing sector in India.
The company is tasked with providing a comprehensive equipment package, which includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, erection, and commissioning of the 765 kV class reactors. These critical components are scheduled for delivery in the fiscal years 2025-26. GE T&D India’s dedication to the Make in India campaign is evident in its operation of advanced manufacturing facilities across Padappai, Hosur, Vadodara, Noida, and Pallavaram, ensuring the supply of essential grid products for this project.
