In a landmark achievement at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2024, Huawei has been honored with the prestigious GSMA Global Mobile (GLOMO) Award for ‘Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough’ with its innovative “0 Bit 0 Watt” solution. This accolade underscores the significance of Huawei’s pioneering native-green network technology in promoting energy-efficient network construction that does not compromise on user experience.
The “0 Bit 0 Watt” solution incorporates Huawei’s cutting-edge native-green technologies, marking a first in the industry for offering such a high level of energy savings without sacrificing service quality. At times of zero network load, Huawei’s solution can reduce the power consumption of RF equipment to less than 10 watts with a 99% switch-off depth, and swiftly resume operations within seconds to manage user demands. This groundbreaking approach not only enhances energy efficiency across various load conditions through advancements in power amplifiers and antennas but also utilizes intelligent technologies for optimal resource and power management at both network and site levels.
By identifying service types and scenarios, the solution ensures precise allocation and scheduling of network resources, maximizing energy utilization. Furthermore, it dynamically adjusts power supply and storage in response to equipment load changes, achieving unparalleled site-level efficiency.
Deployed in over 30 networks globally, the “0 Bit 0 Watt” solution has demonstrated significant reductions in average daily energy consumption, ranging from 9% to 38%, while simultaneously elevating the user experience on 5G networks.
Yu Yang, President of Huawei’s SingleRAN Product Line, expressed gratitude towards GSMA for recognizing Huawei’s efforts in network energy conservation. He highlighted the increasing demand for energy-efficient solutions in the wake of surging network traffic due to emerging 5G applications. “The ‘0 Bit 0 Watt’ solution embodies our commitment to innovation, combining advances in materials, components, and algorithms to enable operators to enhance network experiences without incurring additional energy costs,” Yu stated.
MWC Barcelona 2024, taking place from February 26 to February 29, serves as a platform for Huawei to exhibit its latest technological advancements. The company’s presence at stand 1H50 in Fira Gran Via Hall 1 will showcase its commitment to fostering a sustainable industry ecosystem through collaboration with operators and partners worldwide, especially with the commercial launch of 5.5G on the horizon.
