The acquisition will enhance AFRY’s offerings in the renewables sector, facilitating comprehensive services throughout the project lifecycle, including project development, Owner’s Engineering, and Operations and Maintenance services. This move aligns with AFRY’s strategy to bolster its wind and solar power capabilities through strategic acquisitions across Europe in recent years.
Linda Pålsson, EVP and Head of Division Energy at AFRY, emphasized the significance of decarbonization as a business driver and highlighted the acquisition’s role in strengthening AFRY’s position in clean energy. The addition of Carelin broadens AFRY’s services in the Finnish renewable sector, enabling the provision of full lifecycle services to clients.
Ville Alatalo, CEO of Carelin, emphasized the company’s track record in supporting significant renewable energy projects in Finland and its expertise in wind power production. The partnership with AFRY will expand service offerings across all areas of renewable energy, leveraging AFRY’s understanding of the customer base and shared vision for growth potential.
Carelin Oy specializes in wind power, solar power, and energy storage markets, holding a market-leading position in Finland’s wind power sector. With a strong presence in the growing solar and energy storage markets, Carelin is well-positioned to capitalize on increasing demand.
Since 2017, Carelin Oy has been involved in nearly half of Finland’s wind power investment projects, providing project care services, technical inspections, and construction preparation advisory services. Additionally, the company offers energy and asset care services, including asset lifecycle management and site care services.
Established in 2017, Carelin Oy operates from offices in Seinäjoki, Oulu, Tampere, and Ylivieska, employing approximately 40 people and reporting net sales of SEK 60 million in 2023.
The consolidation of Carelin Oy into AFRY is scheduled to take place from March 2024.
