Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), a key player in India’s renewable energy sector, has successfully operationalized a cumulative capacity of 1,000 MW solar energy at the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat. This achievement reinforces AGEL’s position as India’s largest and one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies. With this milestone, AGEL’s operational capacity now stands at 9,478 MW, as the company progresses towards its ambitious goal of reaching 45,000 MW by 2030.
Remarkably, AGEL accomplished the delivery of 1,000 MW in less than 12 months from the initiation of work at Khavda, involving the installation of approximately 2.4 million solar modules. This rapid progress underscores AGEL’s dedication to supporting India’s target of achieving 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
The Khavda Renewable Energy Park, slated to become the world’s largest renewable energy plant with a capacity of 30 GW, spans a vast area of 538 sq km on barren land in Gujarat, approximately five times the size of Paris. The project, expected to be completed over the next five years, aims to create over 15,200 green jobs, contributing significantly to the region’s economic development.
AGEL is leveraging the project execution capabilities of Adani Infra, the technological expertise of Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), and the operational excellence of AIMSL to replicate its success in building and operating India’s first and the world’s largest wind-solar hybrid cluster in Jaisalmer.
Innovative solutions are being implemented at Khavda to integrate sustainable practices. AGEL has committed to deploying waterless cleaning robots across the entire solar capacity to address dust accumulation on panels, thereby increasing energy output and conserving water in the arid Kutch region. This initiative aligns with AGEL’s commitment to water neutrality goals, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6.
The Khavda Renewable Energy Park stands as a testament to AGEL’s sustainable progress and unwavering commitment to accelerating India’s clean energy transition while enhancing social and natural capital in the region
