In a momentous ceremony marked by gratitude and celebration, the inauguration of the 23 MWp Solar PV Plant in Jambur, The Gambia, was held, signaling a significant leap forward in the nation’s energy landscape.

Expressing gratitude to all involved parties and acknowledging the divine blessings bestowed upon the gathering, officials lauded the Alkalo of Jambur village for hosting the solar plant and extended thanks to local authorities for their warm hospitality.

The commissioning of the plant marks the culmination of a year-long endeavor, highlighting the nation’s commitment to embracing renewable energy and reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels. This milestone project, the first of its kind in The Gambia, underscores the country’s determination to achieve its renewable energy targets, aiming to generate 50% of its power from renewable sources by 2030.

Designed to contribute significantly to carbon emission reduction and the nation’s sustainable energy goals, the utility-scale solar PV plant is poised to become a key player in The Gambia’s energy transition journey.
