Morocco Unveils ‘Morocco Offer’ To Develop Green Hydrogen Sector With One Million Hectares Of Land

In a decisive move to accelerate the development of Morocco’s green hydrogen sector, Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch issued a groundbreaking Decision on Monday, March 11, 2024, in Rabat, implementing the “Morocco Offer”. This strategic initiative, born from the High Royal Directives of HM King Mohammed VI, aims to position Morocco as a competitive player in the global green hydrogen market.

The “Morocco Offer” encompasses the entire value chain of the green hydrogen sector, aligning with the insightful vision of HM King Mohammed VI to leverage the Kingdom’s abundant natural resources, strategic location, and advanced infrastructure. By embracing renewable energies and fostering a conducive investment environment, Morocco seeks to play a pivotal role in global energy transition efforts.

This comprehensive offer delineates the implementation stages, mobilization of resources, infrastructure development, incentive measures, investor selection process, and sector governance. It applies to integrated projects ranging from renewable energy generation to green hydrogen conversion and derivative production.

To facilitate investment, the State has earmarked one million hectares of public land, with an initial provision of 300,000 hectares for investors. The framework investment agreements prioritize regular assessments and transparent communication between the State and investors, ensuring project progress and commitment to mutual success.

With nearly 100 national and international investors expressing keen interest, “Morocco Offer” underscores the Kingdom’s immense potential in green hydrogen production. As Morocco embraces this transformative journey, green hydrogen emerges as a key enabler of sustainable growth, positioning the nation at the forefront of the global energy landscape.
