Arevon Energy, Inc., a leading renewable energy developer, owner, and operator, and Meta Platforms, Inc have inked two long-term Environmental Attributes Purchase Agreements (EAPA) for the Kelso Solar Project in Scott County, Missouri. With a capacity of 349 MWac, this project will provide Meta with 100% renewable energy to power its regional operations.
Arevon will own and manage the Kelso Solar Project, generating numerous economic benefits for the surrounding area. This includes over 450 construction jobs and five permanent positions for ongoing maintenance. Additionally, land leases with local landowners will generate substantial annual revenue, while the project will contribute over $34 million to local governments and nearly $28 million to area schools over its lifespan. The project will also stimulate spending at local businesses, including stores, restaurants, and hotels, both during construction and throughout its operational phase.
The first phase of the Kelso Solar Project is slated for operations in Q4 2025 and the second phase is expected to follow shortly after in Q1 2026.
“We meet 100 percent of our energy demand with renewable power, and we continue to invest in clean energy projects as we grow. This partnership with Arevon decarbonizes our operations and contributes to a more sustainable, resilient energy infrastructure,” said Urvi Parekh, Head of Renewable Energy at Meta.
“Through its Kelso Solar Project, Arevon is pleased to contribute to Meta’s goal of having its global operations supported by 100 percent renewable energy,” added Kevin Smith, Chief Executive Officer at Arevon. “We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with Meta to help in meeting their admirable sustainability targets and accelerate the country’s energy transition.”
