NTPC Ltd., the leading power utility in India, has successfully secured 3445 MW of renewable energy (RE) tenders for the fiscal year 2023-24, marking a significant achievement in its expansion into renewable energy. This accomplishment represents 58% of the total RE tenders NTPC pursued over the year, setting a new record for the company since it began participating in renewable energy bids.
With a current operational capacity of 3.5 GW in renewable energy and an ambitious 20 GW in the development pipeline, NTPC is steadily advancing towards a greener future. As India’s premier integrated power utility, NTPC boasts an installed capacity of approximately 76 GW, accounting for 25% of the nation’s total electricity demand. This milestone is a part of NTPC’s strategic vision to increase its non-fossil fuel-based capacity to 45-50% by 2032.
This vision encompasses a goal to reach 60 GW in renewable energy capacity, contributing to a diverse and sustainable energy portfolio of 130 GW. NTPC’s significant strides in renewable energy underscore its commitment to sustainable development and its pivotal role in India’s transition towards cleaner energy sources.
