TrinaStorage, a renowned global provider of energy storage products and solutions, has unveiled its inaugural office in Latin America, choosing Chile as its entry point into the region. The decision reflects TrinaStorage’s dedication to the country, following Chile’s recent enactment of the Electric Energy Storage and Electromobility Law and its ambitious target to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Heading the storage operations in Chile and the wider region is Vicente Walker, appointed as the Business Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean at TrinaStorage. Walker expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to embark on TrinaStorage’s journey in Chile. It is a strategic market for us, and we have already witnessed significant interest in our offerings, particularly in supporting Chile’s Energy National Resiliency Commission (ENRC) with storage projects.”
The announcement was made during TrinaDay, an exclusive event hosted by the company for its clients, marking its debut in Chile. TrinaStorage also participated in the fourth edition of Energyear Chile 2024, contributing to discussions on solar technology innovation’s impact on project capital expenditure and performance.
TrinaSolar, TrinaStorage’s parent company, has been active in Chile’s solar module sector for over a decade. Its expansion into storage solutions complements its existing portfolio, which includes solar tracking systems following the acquisition of Spanish company NCLAVE in 2014.
In Chile, there are currently over 86 renewable energy projects under construction, representing a total installed capacity of 4,032 MW, with solar energy accounting for 54% of this capacity, according to the Ministry of Energy’s January 2024 report.
Walker highlighted TrinaStorage’s journey since its inception in 2015, emphasizing its commitment to delivering reliable storage solutions backed by decades of solar module expertise. TrinaStorage has already completed over 4 GWh of projects worldwide and boasts a workforce of over 2,000 employees.
Trina Solar, with over 27 years of experience in the industry, has maintained its position as one of the world’s top three solar module manufacturers since 2012. With operations in 160 countries and a mission of “Solar energy for all,” Trina Solar aims to promote global sustainable development through advanced technology and reliable products.
Recent data from Generadoras de Chile indicates a significant increase in renewable energy generation, with renewables contributing 63% of electricity generated in 2023, the highest figure on record. Solar generation accounted for 20% of this total, demonstrating the sector’s growing significance in Chile’s energy landscape.
Trina Solar plans to further strengthen its presence in the region by hosting TrinaDay in Argentina on April 10 and participating in the Solar Storage Fair in Guadalajara, Mexico, from April 17 to 19, showcasing its comprehensive services for the solar industry.
