ACWA Power, headquartered in Saudi Arabia, announced that it has received the commercial operation certificate for the third phase (Phase C) of the Shuaa Energy 3 project in Dubai.
Phase C has augmented the project’s capacity by 300 megawatts (MW), according to a statement issued by the company to the Saudi stock exchange.
With the completion of Phase C, the overall capacity of the plant has reached 900 MW. ACWA Power holds a 24% ownership stake in the Shuaa Energy 3 project.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, with an estimated cost of 50 billion UAE dirhams ($13.65 billion), stands as the largest single-site solar park globally. Its projected capacity is set to reach 5,000 MW by 2030.
Upon full completion, the solar park is anticipated to curtail carbon emissions by 6.5 million tonnes annually.
