SCZONE Chairman Advances Egypt-Netherlands Green Energy Collaboration

The Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, recently attended the prestigious โ€œWorld Hydrogen Summit and Exhibitionโ€ in Rotterdam, Netherlands, from May 13 to 15. The summit, a significant event in the realm of green energy in Europe, focused on supporting the energy transition and enhancing the collaboration between governments, the private sector, and financial institutions to achieve global green energy goals.

At the International Hydrogen Trade Forum (IHTF) roundtable, Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien engaged in discussions alongside Mr. Rob Genn, Minister of Climate and Energy Policy of the Netherlands, and other prominent figures from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He also participated in a session titled โ€œOpportunities for cooperation in the field of green hydrogen between the Netherlands and Egypt,โ€ highlighting SCZONE’s investment opportunities in the green fuel sector and its commitment to sustainable energy projects.

During the summit, Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien met with Mr. Felipe Arbelaez, Senior Vice President of the BP Hydrogen Group, to explore potential collaborations in green hydrogen projects within SCZONE. He emphasized SCZONE’s efforts to develop infrastructure and facilities to support upcoming hydrogen projects, aligning with international standards.

Additionally, SCZONE Chairman signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Rotterdam Foundation, aiming to enhance institutional cooperation in green economy transformation and port efficiency. This collaboration includes the exchange of technical expertise and the implementation of joint training programs.

In a session addressing โ€œDecarbonizing Shipping Fleets,โ€ Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien emphasized the importance of international collaboration among governments, global economic alliances, and financing institutions to drive the green energy industry forward.
