Gensol Engineering Appoints Shilpa Urhekar as New CEO for Solar EPC in India

Gensol Engineering Limited, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector specializing in solar power engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services, as well as electric mobility solutions, has announced the appointment of Ms. Shilpa Urhekar as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Solar EPC (India). Ms. Urhekar succeeds Mr. Ali Imran Naqvi, who has been nominated for a role overseeing the growth of Gensol Engineering Limited and its subsidiaries.

Ms. Urhekar joins Gensol after serving as the Country Head (India) at Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd. (SWREL), where she successfully bid for and executed 6 Gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy projects. Her tenure at SWREL was marked by the successful management of multi-gigawatt solar EPC projects across India, achieving positive bottom-line growth and completing projects ahead of schedule. With over two decades of experience in the renewable energy industry, Ms. Urhekar’s appointment is seen as a pivotal moment for Gensol’s leadership team. She will focus on strengthening the company’s Solar EPC business and solidifying its position in India’s renewable energy landscape.

Ms. Shilpa Urhekar began her career as an Air Force Officer before transitioning to the corporate world, working with companies like Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd., GreenBrilliance, and Welspun Renewable Energy. Her extensive experience in operations, business development, and new business incubation has led to significant advancements in the solar industry. In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Urhekar is in the final stages of her PhD, underscoring her commitment to continuous learning and innovation.
