hep global GmbH, a specialist in solar project development, is set to expand its existing solar park in Schongau, marking a first in Germany: a fully integrated battery storage system at the site. The project is being developed in collaboration with photovoltaic expert Volllast GmbH.
The solar park will have a capacity of approximately 8 MWp, while the integrated battery system will feature 6.1 MWh of storage capacity and a 3 MW power output. Construction is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026. Once operational, the park is expected to generate more than 9.3 million kilowatt-hours annually, enough to power around 2,744 households. The facility is designed for an operational lifespan of at least 20 years.
A standout feature of the project is the high-performance battery storage system, which allows for intermediate energy storage and grid feed-in as needed, even during periods without sunlight. This capability is expected to enhance grid stability and support Germany’s energy transition toward more sustainable power supply.
With all necessary permits secured, the project has entered its final technical planning phase. Financing comes from a consortium of individual investors, demonstrating growing public participation in renewable energy projects.
This initiative is the first outcome of a strategic partnership between hep global GmbH and Volllast GmbH. Under the collaboration, Volllast contributes expertise in local land acquisition and project development, while hep global handles technical planning, financing, construction, electricity marketing, and operation. Additional joint projects in the region are planned for 2026.
