A pivotal meeting chaired by Dr Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Minister of Electricity and Energy in Yemen’s caretaker government, convened today to discuss the preparation of the National Energy Strategy for 2025-2030.
Attendees included key figures such as the Ministry’s Undersecretaries for Technical Affairs Abdul Jabbar Al-Shami, Assistant for Planning and Projects Sector Ahmed Al-Mutawakel, Director General of the General Electricity Corporation Dr Mishaal Al-Rifi, Institutional Strategic Planning Expert Naaman Fairouz, and International Renewable Energy Expert Marwan Dhamarin.
The meeting focused on the measures required to mobilize the national working team tasked with formulating the strategy aimed at advancing Yemen’s electricity sector. The objective is to ensure the provision of high-quality, cost-effective electricity, aligning with the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, the President of the Supreme Political Council, and the goals of the National Vision 2030.
Key topics included energy security, the imminent launch of the national energy strategy, and plans to boost electricity production while enhancing the network and distribution systems. Emphasis was placed on enhancing cooperation with relevant authorities to improve Yemen’s electricity and energy infrastructure. An executive matrix for the strategy’s implementation will be developed and regularly monitored to ensure progress.
