Evren, a clean energy platform established through a joint venture between Brookfield and Axis Energy, has announced a significant investment commitment of $5 billion aimed at boosting renewable power development in Andhra Pradesh.
The substantial investment plan encompasses the development of 3.5 gigawatts (GW) of solar energy and 5.5 GW of wind energy assets within the state, to be executed in a phased manner. As part of this initiative, projects totaling 3 GW are slated for commissioning by the end of 2026, marking a substantial step towards enhancing sustainable energy infrastructure in the region.
The announcement followed a meeting between representatives of Brookfield and Axis Energy with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar. During the meeting, the parties discussed the strategic roadmap for renewable energy expansion and associated opportunities within the state.
In addition to solar and wind projects, Evren is actively exploring diverse opportunities across various sectors including integrated solar module manufacturing, pumped storage solutions, battery storage systems, e-mobility advancements, and the green ammonia space in Andhra Pradesh. These explorations signify Evren’s commitment to establishing a comprehensive and diversified clean energy portfolio in the state.
Evren has set an initial target to develop over 6 GW of renewable energy assets across India’s most resource-rich states within the next two to three years. This ambitious goal underscores the joint venture’s dedication to accelerating the country’s transition towards sustainable and renewable energy sources.
The planned investments and developments by Evren are expected to significantly contribute to Andhra Pradesh’s economic growth, energy security, and environmental sustainability objectives, positioning the state as a leading hub for renewable energy in India.
