The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and the Provincial Government of the Special Capital Region (DKI) Jakarta have formalized a partnership to oversee and guide the electricity business within Jakarta. The Director General of Electricity, Jisman Hutajulu, and the Secretary of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, Joko Agus Setyono, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Jakarta.

Jisman Hutajulu emphasized that this MoU serves as a strategic framework for collaboration between the Directorate General of Electricity and the DKI Jakarta Government. The aim is to ensure effective guidance and supervision of electricity business operations, aligning with existing laws and regulations. Hutajulu highlighted that the initiative is expected to bolster electricity safety programs and support the city’s broader energy policy goals.

Joko Agus Setyono noted that this MoU is a significant move toward reducing the frequency of electrical fires in Jakarta. He stressed that the collaboration would enhance the city’s infrastructure, making it more reliable and sophisticated to support economic activities and daily life. The agreement will facilitate better coordination, improve service quality, and ensure that Jakartaโ€™s energy infrastructure is both safe and efficient.

The scope of the MoU includes coaching, supervision, regulation, and the exchange of data and information. It also addresses support for problem-solving in the electricity sector and monitoring and evaluation. Following the signing, a review of electricity safety in public facilities was conducted with stakeholders in the electricity sector, emphasizing the importance of this initiative in preventing electrical hazards and enhancing energy security in the rapidly growing city of Jakarta.
