Projects must comply with Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) and Central Electricity Authority (CEA) guidelines and are expected to be commissioned by June 30, 2025.

The total contracted capacity is 2,000 MW, with individual bids ranging from 50 MW to 1,000 MW. Projects must include energy storage systems (ESS) for reliable peak-hour power delivery. Key dates include bid submission by 16/10/2024, and the bid opening on 17/10/2024. SECI will charge โน1,00,000 per MW in success fees and ensure regulatory compliance for grid connectivity.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has proposed an amendment to its 2019 order on Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules (ALMM), seeking comments from stakeholders. The amendment introduces List-II for solar PV cells, effective April 1, 2026, mandating projects to source both PV modules and cells from approved ALMM lists. Projects tendered before this date are exempt, but new projects must comply. Sumitomo Corporation and AMPIN Energy Transition Launch $100 Billion Yen JV to Develop 1 GW of Renewable Energy Projects in India
Sumitomo Corporation has announced the formation of a joint venture with Indiaโs AMPIN Energy Transition Private Limited, to develop renewable energy sources and expand the corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) business in India. The new entity, AMPIN C&I Power Private Limited, will focus on supplying electricity generated from renewable sources to commercial and industrial clients. The total project cost is estimated at approximately 100 billion yen. Through this collaboration, the venture aims to build a portfolio of 1 GW of renewable energy assets. AMPIN will own a 51% stake in the joint venture, with Sumitomo holding the remaining 49%.

Apraava Energy Secures 300 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan with NTPC PPA
Apraava Energy, a leading energy solutions provider in India, has finalized a power purchase agreement (PPA) with NTPC for a significant 300 MW solar power project connected to the interstate transmission system (ISTS). Located in Rajasthan, this project represents Apraava Energyโs largest solar initiative to date and is expected to be completed within the next 24 months. The contract was awarded to Apraava Energy following a successful bid with a tariff of INR 2.65 per kWh during NTPCโs auction for 1.5 GW of ISTS-connected solar PV projects across India. Under the 25-year PPA, Apraava Energy will undertake the development of the project on a build-own-operate basis.

TP Solar Ltd., a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL), announced the start of commercial production at its 2GW solar cell line in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, marking a major milestone for Indiaโs largest single-location solar cell and module manufacturing facility.
