Oriental Weavers Invests In 2.5 MWp Solar Power Plant In Egypt, Strengthening Commitment To Sustainability

Oriental Weavers, a global leader in the woven carpets industry, has announced a major step in its sustainability journey by partnering with the Industrial Research and Services Centre (IRSC) to install a 2.5 MWp solar power plant at one of its factories in 10th of Ramadan City, Egypt. The $1.5 million investment is part of the companyโ€™s ongoing commitment to decarbonization and energy efficiency.

This solar initiative is set to reduce Oriental Weavers’ carbon emissions by 4,000 tons annually, reinforcing the companyโ€™s alignment with both Egyptโ€™s Vision 2030 and the United Nationsโ€™ Sustainable Development Goals.

Oriental Weavers has made substantial strides in reducing its carbon footprint, achieving a 35,000-ton reduction in the past four years through energy-efficient practices. This is in line with the company’s larger sustainability objectives. The partnership with IRSC for the solar power plant further demonstrates both organizations’ dedication to environmental responsibility and innovative solutions.

The solar power project represents a critical milestone for Oriental Weavers as it continues to lead the way in environmental responsibility, contributing to a greener future for Egypt.
