AC Health, the Ayala group’s leader in healthcare solutions, is advancing its commitment to sustainability by powering its medical facilities with renewable energy. In collaboration with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), the retail electricity arm of the Ayala group, six Healthway Medical Network facilities will now operate on energy sourced from wind, solar, and geothermal power.
The first facilities to undergo this transition include Healthway QualiMed Hospital Santa Rosa, Healthway QualiMed Manila, and Healthway Cancer Care Hospital in Taguig, the Philippines’ first specialized cancer care facility. Additional facilities, such as Healthway QualiMed Hospital San Jose Del Monte (Bulacan), Healthway Daniel O. Mercado Medical Center, and FEU-NRMF Medical Center in Quezon City, are also making the shift to renewable energy.
Paolo Borromeo, President and CEO of AC Health, emphasized the importance of the partnership with ACEN RES, noting that it reflects the group’s dedication to sustainable practices in healthcare. “By embracing renewable energy, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint but also doing our part to ensure a healthier planet for future generations,” he stated.
This renewable energy initiative is expected to prevent 68,360 tons of CO2 emissions during the contract period, which is equivalent to the CO2 absorption of around 3.1 million trees in one year. The collaboration highlights the Ayala group’s continued focus on environmental responsibility while delivering high-quality healthcare services across the Philippines.
Eric Francia, President and CEO of ACEN, expressed pride in the partnership, noting that using clean energy to power healthcare facilities enhances both environmental sustainability and health outcomes. He added, “This collaboration reinforces our shared vision of creating a more sustainable future for the country.”
This shift represents a significant milestone in AC Health’s efforts to integrate sustainability into its operations, aiming for both environmental protection and improved healthcare accessibility.
