In a strategic move to bolster its renewable energy capabilities, IBM has acquired Prescinto, a Bangalore-based provider of asset performance management (APM) software-as-a-service (SaaS) for the renewables sector. Prescinto specializes in using AI to enhance the monitoring, analytics, and automation of clean energy operations, helping to streamline asset management for renewable energy and storage projects.
The acquisition is expected to integrate Prescintoโs AI-powered solutions into the IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS), IBMโs flagship platform for asset lifecycle management. This will allow IBM to expand its capabilities in supporting clientsโ sustainability efforts and net-zero goals. With this addition, IBMโs clients will be able to track and monitor the real-time performance of solar, wind, and energy storage assets, identify root causes for underperformance, and implement actionable insights to optimize energy generation.
Founded in 2016, Prescinto currently manages 16 gigawatts (GW) of assets across 14 countries, serving a wide range of clients in the renewable energy industry.
IBMโs acquisition of Prescinto is seen as a significant step toward enhancing its offerings in the renewable energy space, aligning with the growing demand for advanced, AI-driven solutions to manage and optimize clean energy assets.
