JERA Nex and Catalyst Energy Partners Join Forces to Accelerate US Clean Energy Expansion

JERA Nex, a global energy leader, has announced a strategic partnership with renewable energy developer Catalyst Energy Partners (CEP) to boost clean energy deployment in the United States. This collaboration will focus on developing, building, owning, and operating new clean energy facilities in key US markets, with an emphasis on utility-scale renewable projects.

The partnership aims to leverage existing grid infrastructure by co-locating renewable energy projects with conventional power plants, expediting the integration of renewables into the US energy landscape. With an extensive portfolio of development-stage clean energy assets, CEP will provide the groundwork for project development, while JERA Nex contributes financial support, strategic oversight, and operational expertise to transition assets into its global portfolio.

Richard Scott, VP Development & Construction, Onshore at JERA Nex, highlighted the significance of the partnership, saying, “Our objective is to scale renewables globally, and this partnership with CEP allows us to expand our presence in the United States by repurposing conventional power facilities.”

CEP, co-founded by renewable energy veteran Matt Cheney and former PG&E executive Steve Malnight, emphasizes a low-impact approach by integrating clean energy with existing grid infrastructure. Cheney expressed optimism about the alliance, stating, “Our shared vision and resources with JERA Nex will make a significant impact in the renewable energy sector.”
