AVVNL Invites Bids for 269 MW Solar Projects Under PM KUSUM, Empowering Farmers with Long-Term Revenue Opportunities

Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (AVVNL) is advancing its commitment to solar energy expansion by inviting bids for 269 MW of grid-connected solar projects under Component A of the PM KUSUM scheme. This ambitious project will involve not only the installation of solar power systems but also 25 years of operations and maintenance, with the goal of boosting local power generation capacity.

With a deadline for bid submissions set for November 29, 2024, AVVNL aims to attract both individual farmers and cooperative groups. The projects require a minimum capacity of 500 kW and can reach up to 2 MW, encouraging the use of unproductive land within a 5 km radius of designated substations. This setup is intended to benefit local landowners and empower communities to contribute to the renewable energy transition.

The scope of work is comprehensive, covering design, supply, testing, commissioning, and construction of essential infrastructure such as 11 kV lines, control rooms, and necessary civil structures for commissioning and remote monitoring. Power generated from these projects will be purchased by AVVNL at a fixed tariff of Rs 3.04 per kWh over the 25-year term, offering financial predictability and stability for project developers.

Furthering AVVNL’s focus on solar expansion, the utility also announced earlier tenders in March 2024 for a 768.4 MW solar portfolio under Component C of the PM KUSUM scheme. These projects, developed under the Renewable Energy Service Company model, include a 72.33 MW grid-connected project with an estimated cost of Rs 35 million per MW. Through these initiatives, AVVNL is driving forward renewable energy adoption in Rajasthan, supporting farmers and landowners while contributing to India’s clean energy targets.
