The International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, has announced a financing package of MXN 6,011 million (US$301 million) to support Vinte Viviendas Integrales, S.A.B. de C.V. (Vinte) through the Vinte Green PCG Project. This project focuses on providing affordable, energy-efficient housing in Mexico, helping to reduce the country’s housing deficit while supporting its climate goals.
As part of the package, IFC will provide an “A” loan of MXN 1,150 million (US$58 million) to help Vinte acquire Servicios Corporativos Javer S.A.B. de C.V. (Javer), a leading real estate developer in Mexico. The loan will also fund Vinte’s post-acquisition investments and working capital needs. Additionally, IFC plans to attract up to MXN 4,861 million (US$243 million) from private investors through a mix of debt and equity financing. This effort aims to strengthen the overall financial package and help Vinte access Mexico’s bond market despite economic challenges.
The Vinte Green PCG Project supports Mexico’s goals to boost private sector investment and develop inclusive, sustainable infrastructure. By adopting green building practices, the project will play a key role in Mexico’s efforts to address climate change through mitigation and adaptation. Vinte, a leader in sustainable housing, is committed to certifying at least 90% of its new developments under EDGE standards, ensuring substantial energy and water savings for homeowners.
Domingo Valdés Díaz, CFO and Board Member, stated, “Thanks to the strong strategic relationship with partners such as the IFC, Vinte has come the homebuilder with the largest number of EDGE homes certified worldwide and has been able to grow in total annual revenues more than 24x since 2008, considering Javer acquisition´s proforma as of the 3Q of 2024.”
Juan Gonzalo Flores, IFC’s Country Manager for Mexico, said in a statement, “IFC’s investment in Vinte underscores our commitment to supporting sustainable and inclusive housing solutions in Mexico. By expanding access to affordable, green housing, we are addressing critical development challenges and contributing to Mexico’s climate goals.”
The Vinte Green PCG Project is set to make a big difference by increasing access to affordable, high-quality housing while improving energy and water efficiency in homes. The project will also boost competition in Mexico’s housing market by strengthening Vinte’s operations and encouraging the widespread use of green building practices.
