UAE and Uruguay Forge Energy Cooperation Agreement at Sustainability Week

The UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) and Uruguay’s Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to enhance collaboration in energy-related fields. The agreement was formalized on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025.

Nawal Al Hanaee, Director of the Future Energy Department at MoEI, and Christian Nieves Lauz, National Energy Director of Uruguayโ€™s Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining, signed the memorandum. It outlines provisions for knowledge sharing, high-level discussions, and organizing workshops to promote advancements in the energy sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Al Hanaee emphasized the importance of such partnerships in advancing the global transition to clean and renewable energy. “This agreement paves the way for growth and development by supporting efforts to diversify energy sources and prioritize clean energy,” she stated.

She also highlighted that the memorandum reflects a shared commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that benefit both nations. The framework will support initiatives in critical sectors, including clean energy and climate action, strengthening bilateral relations and contributing to sustainable development goals.
