The investment aligns with Hindustan Power’s goal of achieving a 5 GW energy portfolio within the next three years. The company will allocate ₹500 crore for the solar plant and ₹120 crore for the battery storage system, aiming to strengthen Assam’s energy infrastructure while generating over 5,000 man-days of employment.

Ratul Puri emphasized Hindustan Power’s longstanding commitment to Assam’s renewable energy growth, recalling the company’s development of the state’s first large-scale solar power plant in 2016. “Assam’s dynamic landscape offers immense opportunities, and we are excited to deepen our commitment to its renewable energy ambitions,” he stated. He also credited Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for fostering an investment-friendly environment in the state.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) Chairman Syedain Abbasi, IAS; Principal Secretary of the Power (Electricity) Department Dr. Krishna Kumar Dwivedi, IAS; and APDCL Managing Director Rakesh Kumar, IAS.
