Iraq Seeks to Join International Solar Alliance, Strengthens Economic Ties with India

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani has announced that Iraq is seeking to join the International Solar Alliance (ISA), a global initiative headquartered in India aimed at promoting solar energy adoption to combat climate change.

The announcement came during Al Sudani’s meeting with the newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Iraq, Sumin Bagchi, where both sides discussed strengthening economic cooperation between the two nations.

The discussions also included preparations for the 19th round of the High Joint Committee meetings, which will further outline areas of cooperation between Iraq and India.

This development highlights Iraq’s growing focus on renewable energy and its intent to strengthen economic and trade relations with India.
