Avangrid, Inc., a leading energy company and part of the Iberdrola Group, hosted a Hispanic roundtable at the CERAWeek energy conference in Houston, Texas, led by CEO Pedro Azagra. The event brought together business and community leaders, nonprofits, and a former ambassador to discuss ways to help underserved communities gain better access to education, funding, and skills for career growth.
This initiative follows Avangridโs first Hispanic roundtable held in Connecticut and reflects the companyโs long-term commitment to empowering underserved communities. By creating these spaces for dialogue, Avangrid aims to ensure that Hispanic voices are heard in shaping policies that impact their lives. The company also plans to expand these discussions with additional roundtables across the 23 states where it operates later this year.
Pedro Azagra, CEO at Avangrid, said in a statement, โAvangrid, a member of the Iberdrola Group, is committed to engaging and supporting Hispanic communities across the United States. I am grateful to our distinguished leaders in Texas for their thoughtful and insightful participation in our roundtable and look forward to listening and learning more from them in conversations ahead. At Avangrid, we are committed to uplifting Hispanic voices and ensuring energy policy and strategy reflect our community needs and desires. As we expand our series of Hispanic Roundtables across the country, we will continue to develop real solutions to the complex energy challenges ahead informed by these critical conversations with our key partners.โ
CERAWeek is one of the worldโs premier energy conferences, drawing over 10,000 participants from 80 countries to address global energy challenges and solutions. Avangridโs roundtable at this event focused on increasing Hispanic community involvement in tackling energy-related issues and finding inclusive solutions for a sustainable future.
In addition to hosting these roundtables, Avangrid recently became a member of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators, and CEO Pedro Azagra joined the Board of Trustees at the National Hispanic Energy Council. These partnerships, along with the ongoing roundtables, highlight Avangridโs growing role as a resource and advocate for Hispanic communities in the energy sector.
