South Africa is set to benefit from the 120MW Doornhoek Solar PV Project, a US$120 million renewable energy initiative located near Klerksdorp in the Northwest Province. Awarded under Bid Window 6 of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP), the project will generate 325GWh of clean electricity annually, powering approximately 97,000 households and offsetting 330,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

The project, developed by AMEA Power, is expected to achieve commercial operations by December 2025. It marks AMEA Power’s first operational asset in South Africa, further strengthening the company’s commitment to expanding renewable energy solutions across the continent.

In recognition of its impact, the Doornhoek Solar PV Project was recently honored with IJGlobal’s Renewable Deal of the Year.
