BluPine Energy, a prominent renewable energy services company in India, has announced the signing of a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 150 MW solar project integrated with an Energy Storage System (ESS). The agreement has been signed through BluPineโ€™s Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), Solarcraft Power India 17 Private Limited, and is part of SECIโ€™s broader initiative to procure 2,000 MW of power from ISTS-connected solar projects equipped with 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh of energy storage capacity.

The upcoming project will be located in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan and plays a role in advancing Indiaโ€™s national target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil-based installed energy capacity by 2030. The integration of energy storage is a key step toward improving grid performance and reliability. It aligns with the Ministry of Powerโ€™s mandate, effective February 2025, which calls for energy storage solutions to address the challenges of intermittent renewable generation and to support energy supply during peak demand periods.

Neerav Nanavaty, CEO, BluPine Energy, said in a statement, โ€œWe are deeply committed to powering Indiaโ€™s decarbonization journey through reliable, round-the-clock renewable energy. The PPA with SECI highlights our ability to pivot with agility as Indiaโ€™s renewable powered grids become resilient. Our 150 MW solar project with integrated energy storage in Rajasthan is designed to deliver firm and dispatchable clean powerโ€”addressing intermittency and enhancing grid stability. By integrating cutting-edge solar technology with advanced storage solutions, we are not only meeting todayโ€™s energy demands but also shaping a sustainable energy future for India.โ€

This solar-plus-storage project was secured through BluPineโ€™s SPV Solarcraft Power India 8 Private Limited as part of SECIโ€™s competitive bidding process under the Request for Selection (RfS No. SECI/C&P/IPP/11/0011/24-25) issued on July 31, 2024. By combining solar generation with advanced storage systems, BluPine Energy aims to deliver cleaner, more stable, and reliable power to the national grid, contributing meaningfully to Indiaโ€™s clean energy transition.
