Tandem PV, a U.S.-based innovator in perovskite solar technology, has been recognized as one of TIME Magazineโ€™s Top GreenTech Companies of 2025, both within the United States and globally. This recognition comes shortly after the company secured $50 million in Series A funding, which is being used to expand the commercial production of its advanced tandem solar panels. The acknowledgment highlights Tandem PVโ€™s growing influence in the global renewable energy sector.

The selection process, conducted by TIME in partnership with Statista, evaluated over 8,000 companies from more than 30 countries across six continents. From this pool, 250 companies were chosen based on their leadership in environmental impact, financial performance, and technological innovation. Tandem PVโ€™s inclusion on the list reflects its commitment to pushing the boundaries of solar energy efficiency and its potential to support the global transition to clean energy.

Tandem PVโ€™s solar panels use a combination of thin-film perovskite and traditional silicon cells. This tandem approach allows for greater energy capture, enabling the panels to currently achieve 28% efficiency. The company expects this to increase beyond 30% by the end of 2025, which would make its panels significantly more powerful than the industry average. This increase in efficiency not only improves performance but also lowers the overall cost of solar power, making it more accessible for large-scale deployment.

Scott Wharton, CEO of Tandem PV, said in a statement, โ€œOur team is obsessed with pushing the boundaries of science and technology to help achieve net zero and restore U.S. leadership in solar technology. Recognition by TIME alongside greentech innovators in AI, aerospace, and carbon capture is a testament to our collective work to build a more sustainable energy future.โ€

As Tandem PV continues to grow its domestic manufacturing capabilities, it aims to offer a scalable and affordable solution to support national and global goals for decarbonization and energy independence. The company was also featured in the โ€œ50 by 2050โ€ list by Congruent Ventures last year, a recognition given to climate tech firms with strong potential to reduce carbon emissions significantly over the next quarter-century. This continued recognition underscores Tandem PVโ€™s role in shaping the future of clean energy and its progress toward commercializing high-efficiency solar technology on a larger scale.
