Japanese photovoltaic (PV) engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm Nippon Energy has announced the acquisition of a solar panel manufacturing business in Dubai, marking a strategic move to establish a state-of-the-art PV module production facility in the region.
The acquired facility, originally founded in 2016, will be upgraded to produce high-efficiency heterojunction (HJT) PV modules with an annual production capacity of 1 gigawatt (GW). The company has now begun offering ‘Made in Dubai’ HJT solar panels, aiming to combine cutting-edge solar technology with regional manufacturing reliability.
Headquartered in Tokyo, Nippon Energy is known for delivering solar energy solutions across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. The company has a strong presence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan and also provides photovoltaic investment and leasing solutions in the UAE market.
In a statement, Nippon Energy noted that the Dubai-based project aligns with the UAE’s long-term sustainability agenda and supports the objectives of the COP28 initiative. The investment reflects the company’s commitment to renewable energy innovation and its role in advancing the UAE’s environmental and energy goals.
