Trinasolar, a global leader in smart photovoltaic and energy storage solutions, has supplied 52,000 units of its high-efficiency i-TOPCon Vertex N 710-715W (NEG21C.20) n-type solar panels for the Limbauan Solar Power Project (LSPP) in San Pablo, Isabela, Philippines. This 40-megawatt direct current (MWdc) solar project is being developed by BKS Green Energy Corporation, a subsidiary of Rizal Green Energy Corporation (RGEC)—a joint venture between PetroGreen Energy Corporation (PGEC) and Japan’s TAISEI Corporation.

Once fully operational, the LSPP is expected to produce around 59 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean electricity annually, supplying power to approximately 33,000 homes and helping to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 31,700 metric tons each year. The project is structured in two phases: Phase 1, generating 6 MWdc, will be connected to the Isabela Electric Cooperative-II (ISELCO-II), while Phase 2, contributing 34 MWdc, will connect to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines via a dedicated 4.73 km transmission line along the 69 kV Tuguegarao-Cabagan route.

Maria Victoria M. Olivar , Vice President, Business Development and Commercial Operations , PGEC, mentioned, “The installation process of LSPP’s solar panels has officially begun. The event was attended by various stakeholders–both in the private and public sectors–most notably, local government officials who support PetroGreen’s first investment in Region 2.”

Atty. Angelynn C. Salazar , representing Isabela Governor Rodolfo T. Albano III, stated, “This project is a testament to the collaboration of the government, private sector, and local communities to achieve a common goal.”

Elva Wang , Group Director , Trinasolar, Southeast Asia, explained, “The Philippines has great potential in utilizing solar power to meet the surging energy demand. Integrating Vertex N solar panels, powered by n-type i-TOPCon technology, at LSPP, we provide the best efficiency and power output. Continuing our previous partnership, including the procurement of 117 MW of solar panels in April 2024 , we are committed to supporting PetroGreen to accelerate the adoption of clean energy solutions in the Philippines.”

Trinasolar’s involvement in the project extends beyond the supply of solar panels. The company is also providing training to local workers, supporting workforce development in the region. At the peak of construction, the project is expected to employ between 500 and 600 people, contributing to local economic growth and capacity-building in the renewable energy sector within the Cagayan Valley region. The LSPP represents a significant milestone in the Philippines’ transition to sustainable energy and highlights Trinasolar’s role in supporting long-term clean energy infrastructure through both advanced solar technologies and local community engagement.
