Alpex Solar, in partnership with NVNR Power & Infra, has secured a major solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for a 70 MW project. The order has been awarded by the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited. This solar project will be located at Nandan Washery in the Kanhan Area of Western Coalfields, near Nagpur in Maharashtra.

The tender for this project was floated in July 2024. The total cost of the project stands at ₹3.5 billion. As per the agreement, Alpex Solar will handle 70% of the total order value. The work has to be completed within a period of 540 days from the start date.

The scope of the project includes the design, engineering, procurement and supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of a grid-connected 70 MW solar power system. The contract also covers ten years of comprehensive operation and maintenance services.

According to the terms, the work must begin either within 30 days of the letter of acceptance and performance security submission or within seven days after the site is handed over for the first activity.

Additionally, the consortium will construct a 32 kV double-circuit transmission line from the project’s main control station to the designated feeding substation. They will also set up a two-bay extension arrangement.

The solar modules to be used must maintain a peak power output of at least 90% at the end of ten years and not drop below 80% after 25 years. Since the project will be used for captive power consumption at various load centers across Western Coalfields through open access, the contractors will also be responsible for mapping these load centers.
