A delegation from the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) actively participated in the World Hydrogen Summit 2025 held in Rotterdam, with key discussions centered on the growing global momentum around green hydrogen.
Representing Indiaโs clean energy ambitions, Shri Sanjay Sharma, Director (Solar) at SECI, spoke at a high-level session titled “India-Europe Green Hydrogen Trade.” During his address, he emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening India-Europe cooperation to unlock the full potential of green hydrogen in the global clean energy transition.
Sharma underscored Indiaโs vast renewable energy base as a critical asset in establishing the country as a major player in the global hydrogen economy. He further detailed SECIโs pivotal role in implementing the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM), particularly through its leadership in the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program, where it acts as an aggregator.
SECI’s ongoing initiatives include tenders for the establishment of green hydrogen hubs, the manufacturing of electrolysers, and the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia, all of which are key to Indiaโs decarbonization and energy independence goals.
The session brought together a wide range of stakeholders from both regions, including Indian industry representatives, European energy consumers, government regulators, technology providers, and port authorities. Discussions focused on policy harmonization between India and Europe, the need for robust frameworks for cross-border hydrogen trade, and the potential for technological collaboration in hydrogen production, storage, and transport.
A key highlight of the session was the proposal of developing a hydrogen corridor to strengthen connectivity and create a resilient and integrated hydrogen supply chain between the two regions.
The event concluded with a shared commitment to building a strong and inclusive green hydrogen ecosystem, reflecting a unified approach to tackling climate change and achieving global sustainability goals.
The Indian delegation was led by Shri Sanjay Sharma, and included Shri Abhishek Ambasta (Senior Manager), Shri Uday Pavan (Manager), and Shri Ankit Bhatt (Deputy Manager).
