PetroGreen Energy Corporation (PGEC) and Isuzu Autoparts Manufacturing Corporation (IAMC) have officially launched a 3.002-megawatt peak (MWp) rooftop solar power system at IAMC’s manufacturing facility in Laguna Technopark, Biñan.
The event was led by PGEC President and CEO F.G. Delfin Jr., IAMC President Takashi Ishikawa, and PEZA CALABARZON Deputy Zone Administrator Engr. Alejo F. Macaraeg. Senior executives from Isuzu Motors operations in Japan and Southeast Asia were also present.
“This solar rooftop project underscores our commitment to reducing carbon emissions and advancing sustainable manufacturing practices, in line with Isuzu’s Environmental Vision 2050, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the Philippines’ Ambisyon Natin 2040,” said IAMC President Takashi Ishikawa. He noted that IAMC’s Laguna facility is now the third Isuzu plant in Southeast Asia equipped with an in-house rooftop solar installation.
IAMC, a subsidiary of Isuzu Motors Limited Japan, manufactures automotive parts and has placed environmental sustainability at the forefront of its operations. The newly completed 3.002 MWp solar system spans across four major buildings within the IAMC complex. It comprises 4,289 high-efficiency Trina 700 Wp solar panels and 19 Huawei 100/150 kW string inverters.
The project was financed and developed by PGEC, with Fravinz Enterprises, Inc. serving as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor. The entire installation—including extensive roof refurbishment and structural reinforcement—was completed in just seven months.
The system is expected to meet approximately 20% of IAMC’s annual electricity requirements and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by roughly 3,000 tons per year. The project reflects growing momentum in the Philippines’ industrial sector toward renewable energy integration.
“This project not only supports IAMC’s energy needs, but also contributes to the Department of Energy’s broader goals of energy resiliency and affordability,” said PGEC’s Delfin Jr. “We are committed to expanding partnerships with other locators and industrial players for collective action toward clean energy, reduced power costs, and a more sustainable business environment in the country.”
PEZA CALABARZON’s Engr. Macaraeg praised the initiative as a “significant milestone” that aligns with PEZA’s core objectives of innovation, economic growth, and environmental responsibility.
The successful commissioning of the IAMC solar rooftop project marks a notable advancement in the Philippines’ transition toward green manufacturing and demonstrates the potential of public-private collaboration in achieving national sustainability goals.
