LONGi, the world’s leading manufacturer of photovoltaic technology, has announced a strategic partnership with Rafiqui, a Mexican non-profit organization focused on providing recycling solutions for decommissioned solar panels. The initiative, developed in collaboration with companies across Mexico’s energy sector, aims to establish and expand the country’s infrastructure for solar panel recycling.
This partnership addresses a critical gap in Mexico’s renewable energy landscape, where limited recycling options for photovoltaic modules pose a growing challenge for solar developers, operators, and installers. By supporting this effort, LONGi and its partners are reinforcing their commitment to sustainability and advancing the principles of the circular economy.
Through this collaboration, Rafiqui and key solar industry stakeholders seek to develop a responsible, scalable, and environmentally sound solution for managing the end-of-life phase of solar panels. LONGi is the first solar module manufacturer to join the initiative, taking a leadership role in promoting environmental stewardship within the sector.
This effort represents a significant step toward reducing the environmental footprint of solar energy in Mexico while supporting the long-term sustainability of the industry.
