GameChange Solar Secures 1.25 GW Tracker Deal For Egypt’s Abydos II Project, A Major Clean Energy Milestone

GameChange Solar, a global leader in solar tracking and fixed-tilt racking systems, has signed a major agreement with CEEC-ZTPC to supply its Genius Tracker™ 1P Single Row system for the second phase of the Abydos Solar PV Plant in Egypt. The project, developed by AMEA Power and constructed by CEEC-ZTPC, will integrate a 1 GWac solar photovoltaic power plant with a 600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), making it one of the largest solar-plus-storage installations in Africa.

This new contract brings GameChange Solar’s total supplied capacity in Egypt to nearly 3 GW, reinforcing its position as one of the region’s leading solar tracker providers. The project represents a key step in Egypt’s plan to generate 42% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. Once operational, it will significantly strengthen the country’s clean energy infrastructure.

The Abydos-II plant is set to be commissioned in May 2026 and will cover an expansive area of 20 square kilometers in Egypt’s Aswan Governorate. The facility is expected to produce approximately 3,000 GWh of clean electricity each year. This output will be enough to supply power to more than 500,000 homes and prevent over 1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

Vikas Bansal, President – International, GameChange Solar, stated, We’re honored to continue our partnership with CEEC-ZTPC and support AMEA Power in delivering another transformative energy project. Following the successful execution of Abydos I, a 560 MW project that has now reached commercial operation, this significant order reflects the trust we’ve built through strong collaboration and reliable execution. We’re proud to contribute our technology and expertise to a project that’s shaping the future of energy in Africa.”
