JA Solar’s DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules have been integral to the electrification of 100MW Kabwe solar power plant, Zambia’s largest standalone photovoltaic installation. These high-efficiency modules provide reliable performance in challenge weather conditions, such as the high temperatures and alternating wet and dry seasons in Zambia.
During the inaugural ceremony, President Hakainde Hichilema emphasised the project’s role in advancing the national goal of achieving 1,000MW of installed solar capacity. The power plant, constructed by PowerChina, is located in Central Province. Electricity shortages are endemic in this area and the power plant is slated to provide approximately 180 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity every year, meeting the requirements of around 150,000 households and cutting down the region’s electricity deficit by up to 30%.“We are honored to support Zambia’s clean energy development through the Kabwe project,” said Aiqing Yang, Executive President of JA Solar. “Their trust in our solutions reflects our commitment to delivering high-efficiency, high-reliability technologies tailored to regional needs. We are focused on creating long-term value for our partners and the communities they serve.”
