Treaty Oak Clean Energy, LLC, a U.S.-based independent power producer (IPP), has announced a long-term clean energy partnership with Meta Platforms, Inc. for two large-scale solar projects totaling 385 MWac in Morehouse and Sabine Parishes, Louisiana. Under these agreements, Meta will purchase the environmental attributes generated by both projects to advance its sustainability and clean energy goals, while the electricity produced will be supplied to the local grid, enhancing regional energy capacity and resilience.
This collaboration marks a significant step for Treaty Oak in expanding its renewable energy footprint within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) Southern region. Rohit Ogra, Co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer of Treaty Oak Clean Energy, stated, โOur partnership with Meta marks a critical milestone for Treaty Oak and our commitment to support our customers and their growing clean energy needs in MISOโs Southern footprint, as well as our broader mission to deliver impactful, scalable clean energy solutions across the U.S. Together with Meta, weโre strengthening local energy resilience, supporting economic development, and creating long-term value for the communities in which we operate in Louisiana.โ
Echoing this sentiment, Urvi Parekh, Metaโs Head of Global Energy, commented, โOur partnership with Treaty Oak reflects Metaโs and Treaty Oakโs shared commitment to bringing new, additional clean energy to the local grid. When we announced our AI data center in Richland Parish, Louisiana, last year we committed to working with our partners to bring new energy to the grid โ and this agreement with Treaty Oak does just that, while also helping match our operations with clean energy while contributing to local energy resilience and economic growth across Louisiana.โ
The first of the two projects, the Beekman Solar project in Morehouse Parish, will provide 185 MWac of clean power under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Meta and is expected to begin commercial operation in the third quarter of 2027. The second, the Hollis Creek Solar project in Sabine Parish, will add another 200 MWac of capacity, also under a PPA with Meta, and is targeting the same operational timeline of Q3 2027.
Combined, the Beekman and Hollis Creek Solar projects will bring 385 MWac of new renewable energy capacity to Louisiana, reinforcing the stateโs transition toward clean energy and sustainability. Beyond environmental benefits, these projects are projected to generate over $100 million in lifetime state and local tax revenue and create approximately 300 jobs during peak construction. This partnership represents a milestone in Louisianaโs renewable energy development, highlighting how corporate collaborations between technology companies and independent power producers can drive local economic growth, strengthen the grid, and accelerate the shift toward a more sustainable energy future.
