NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a leading subsidiary of the state-owned power giant NTPC Limited, has made notable strides in expanding its renewable energy portfolio with recent updates on the Khavda-I Solar PV Project in Gujarat. Through two separate regulatory filings under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, dated December 24, 2025, and December 29, 2025, NGEL shared progress on the phased commissioning of this large-scale solar project being developed under the CPSU scheme Phase-II Tranche-III by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NGEL.

The first update highlighted the successful commissioning of the eighth part capacity of the Khavda-I project, which added 69.04 MW to the commercial grid. This capacity was officially declared for commercial operation starting from 00:00 hours on December 25, 2025. Prior to this addition, the total commercial capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group stood at 7,927.26 MW. With the inclusion of the eighth segment, the groupโ€™s overall installed capacity rose to 7,996.30 MW, marking a significant increase and demonstrating NGELโ€™s continuous efforts in strengthening its renewable energy footprint.

Shortly after this milestone, NGEL issued a second disclosure regarding the ninth part capacity of the same Khavda-I project. This additional segment contributed 13.98 MW to the groupโ€™s total output and was declared for commercial operation from 00:00 hours on December 30, 2025. At the time of this disclosure on December 29, the existing commercial capacity of the group was 7,996.30 MW. The successful addition of the ninth segment has further pushed NGELโ€™s total installed capacity to 8,010.28 MW, establishing a new high for the group.

Both disclosures were signed and authorized by Manish Kumar, the Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of NTPC Green Energy Limited. The company operates from its corporate office in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with its registered office located at NTPC Bhawan in New Delhi. The regulatory filings were submitted to both the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited, where NGEL is listed under the scrip codes NTPCGREEN and 544289, respectively.

The phased commissioning approach adopted by NGEL for the 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project reflects a strategic and steady method for bringing large-scale renewable infrastructure online. By dividing the project into smaller operational segments, the company ensures the timely integration of capacity into the grid, contributing incrementally to Indiaโ€™s renewable energy targets. These recent additions underscore NGELโ€™s commitment to scaling up its green energy portfolio and its significant role in supporting the countryโ€™s transition towards clean energy. With the total installed capacity now surpassing 8,000 MW, NTPC Green Energy Limited continues to strengthen its position as a major contributor to Indiaโ€™s renewable energy landscape, demonstrating both operational efficiency and strategic foresight in its ongoing solar projects.

This progress at the Khavda-I project not only adds to NGELโ€™s overall capacity but also exemplifies the growing momentum in Indiaโ€™s solar energy sector, reflecting the potential for sustained growth and the governmentโ€™s push towards achieving ambitious renewable energy goals.
