Roofsol Energy Pvt. Ltd. has signed an agreement with the Motherson Group to develop 12.8 MWp of rooftop and behind-the-meter solar power projects across the group’s manufacturing facilities in India, according to a company announcement.
The projects will be implemented across multiple states, including Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Puducherry. Roofsol Energy will be responsible for the design, engineering, installation and operation of the solar systems, which will be executed under a mix of OPEX (RESCO) and CAPEX models.
Once commissioned, the rooftop solar installations are expected to generate over 14 million units of clean electricity annually, helping Motherson Group reduce its dependence on grid power. The projects are also projected to offset around 5,500–5,700 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year, supporting the group’s sustainability and decarbonisation goals.
The development adds to Roofsol Energy’s expanding renewable energy portfolio. The company recently secured INR 210 crore in funding from Aseem Infrastructure Finance Ltd. to support the development of nearly 93 MWp of IPP and group captive solar projects across India. Roofsol has also completed 14 EPC solar projects totalling about 29 MWp across 12 states.
The partnership highlights the growing adoption of rooftop solar solutions by India’s commercial and industrial sector, as companies increasingly turn to renewable energy to manage power costs and meet climate commitments.
