SunPower, a leading solar technology, services, and installation company, has announced a strategic initiative aimed at making home battery storage more accessible to American families. As part of this effort, SunPower has partnered with The Cool Down, a lifestyle media platform with a large homeowner audience; Palmetto, a consumer energy platform; and Enphase Energy (Nasdaq: ENPH), the manufacturer of the advanced IQ Battery 10C.

For decades, SunPower has leveraged strategic partnerships to accelerate the adoption of solar technology, and this initiative continues that mission by providing homeowners with access to premium battery systems combined with flexible financing options to make battery storage more affordable.

As extreme weather events, amplified by increased energy usage, continue to challenge electrical gridsโ€”from winter storms to summer heat wavesโ€”homeowners are increasingly recognizing the importance of energy independence. Battery storage systems allow households to store solar energy for use during peak-rate hours or grid outages, enhancing the value of their existing solar systems and improving resilience against power interruptions.

Steve Erickson, Executive Vice President of SunPowerโ€™s Battery Division, explained that the program addresses two major barriers to battery adoption: understanding available options and affordability. He noted that The Cool Down platform reaches homeowners who are already looking for ways to reduce utility costs, Palmettoโ€™s LightReach financing removes the upfront cost barrier, and Enphase provides one of the most reliable batteries on the market. SunPowerโ€™s role is to install the complete system and provide 15 years of ongoing support.

Troy Roble, Senior Vice President of Business Development Residential at Palmetto, emphasized that homeowners should not have to choose between energy security and manageable monthly payments. He highlighted that the new financing products make adding battery storage practical and achievable for a wider range of families.

SunPower CEO T.J. Rodgers added that the company values the compact design, safety, and longevity of the Enphase IQ Battery 10C, which features lithium iron phosphate cells and a warranty that exceeds competitors by five years. He noted that, with Palmettoโ€™s financing solutions, these benefits can now be made more affordable for homeowners. The program is available to homeowners in all 45 states served by SunPower, with priority access for existing SunPower customers.
