NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited, has invited bids for the supply of solar PV modules for a large solar power project in Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh. The project has a planned capacity of 400 MW, and the bidding process will be carried out through domestic competitive bidding. NTPC REL will follow a single-stage, two-envelope system, which will later be followed by a reverse auction.

As per the bid document, the project requires the manufacturing and supply of crystalline solar PV bifacial modules. Each module must have a minimum nominal capacity of 570 Wp. The modules should fall under the โ€œOPEN Categoryโ€ and must be listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), specifically under List-I for modules and List-II for cells. This ensures that only approved domestic manufacturers are eligible to participate.

Although the package is titled as a 400 MW solar project, the technical specifications reveal that the Chitrakoot-2 site will have a higher DC capacity. The project is designed for about 580 MWp using TOPCon technology with glass-to-glass bifacial solar modules, indicating NTPCโ€™s focus on high-efficiency technology.

Bidders are required to meet certain technical and financial qualifications. On the technical side, a bidder must have manufactured and supplied at least 200 MWp of solar modules or solar cells within any continuous 12-month period during the last five years. In addition, at least one single supply order of 50 MWp or more is mandatory. Financially, bidders must have a net worth equal to or higher than 100 percent of their paid-up share capital. The average annual turnover requirement will be calculated based on the total quoted capacity multiplied by INR 0.3195 crore.

The bidding documents will be available for download from February 6, 2026, to February 15, 2026. The deadline for pre-bid queries is February 17, 2026. Bid submission for Envelope-I is scheduled for March 2, 2026, by 3:00 PM IST, followed by the opening of the techno-commercial bids at 3:30 PM on the same day. The bid security or earnest money deposit has been fixed at INR 20 crore, while the cost of bidding documents is not applicable. Details related to the performance bank guarantee will be provided in the official bid documents.
